Everyone in the house is sick…..tissue filled grocery bags taped to Kleenex boxes everywhere. Endless bowls from an all week chicken soup binge. I’m exhausted catering to all the sick people n have barely enough energy to keep up.
Its times like these that I really let the cleaning go and the house falls apart, and that’s ok. But there a few things you NEVER want to let go.
So if you find yourself in my shoes, take THREE and call it a day.
#1) Make YOUR bed…..

its amazing how whole you feel when you have a serene and relaxing place to retreat to when the house is in chaos. It’s like putting your make up on and a perky scarf when you didn’t have time to shower. It just picks you up!
#2) load and RUN the dishwasher…
The days I run the dishwasher before bed and empty it while getting my morning coffee, so that all day I can just rinse n load it as they come, makes for a MUCH easier day. When I have a sink chocked full of dishes staring at me in the face and have to spend the time to do it all at once, it’s such a chore. One piece at a time as you use it makes for an effortless transition and leaves you with an empty sink all day. Such a difference!
#3) one load of laundry…
those of you who have let the laundry pile up know what a horse it is to get back on top of. It can be a whole hour or even a day! An apple a day keeps the doctor away they say and so a load of laundry a day keeps the work at bay.
Laundry TIP: I’ve completely done away with the most time consuming aspect of laundry: the Fold n put away! Another demon in the closet is the sitting basket full of clean laundry that needs folding and putting away. This system kills both birds with one stone because the one causes the other. Those baskets sit filled and neglected because we KNOW we don’t have the time it takes to fold and put away. So try this……
Hang a handled laundry sac for each family member adjacent to your W/D.

i tied pretty chalk labels from staples to mine labeling whose they are.

Hang one for towels too.
When you empty the dryer grab one piece at a time n place the item into its owners bag. Now it’s up to the owner to come n put it away or merely just pick from it all week like my husband does 😉 BUT…it’s always clean, it’s always sorted and ready for use again.
A garment steamer on hand solves any quick wrinkle attacks.
So that’s that! No matter what you let go by the wayside, just make sure those three sleeping giants never wake and you’ll never be past the point of no return.
CHEERS to savy short cuts 🙂
