Staying on top of household cleaning is such a success, kudos if your there, but for many of us it’s merely on our bucket list. Knocking down a few household quick fixes with a simple HAC is one BIG way to motivate you and keep you on the ball, even when it’s barely rolling.
Here’s a a common household issue that I have a really quick fix for and it really takes no time and energy at all. It’s the bathroom fixture. If you have a rusted crusted kitchen or bathroom fixture that is the victim of hard water or mineral deposit, this may just totally float your boat.
I literally used a white vinegar and Xanthum gum mix to make my own vinegar gel in lieu of the Mrs. Meyers vinegar gel that not only has a pretty hefty price tag of $3-$5 but also isn’t that safe at all, for something that masquerades in the natural cleaning department. 🙄 But even if chemical safety isn’t your thang, well then I’m sure the price cut will be because you can whip up your own for about $0.24…..yup, not a typo. Less than a quarter of a dollar. Which I get isn’t it worth the hassle, but this isn’t any hassle either. Not if you use a mason jar and an immersion blender that is. Your going to need a wide mouth ball jar though to fit your blender into.
Once you have whipped up some of your own vinegar gel, paste it onto the rusty crusty fixture and let it sit. Yup, go do your thing and let the vinegar gel do the work for you. Leave it on for as little as 30 minutes to an hour for decent results but for really bad spots leave on overnight and wipe off in the morning with a microfiber cloth and hot water. Just watch as the rust and crust wipes away with it. That simple. I so LOVE simple. Life is already so difficult, I just love me some little details like this these to uncomplicate things.
